Objectives

To define and characterise the micro-habitats of two species of coastal shark on the west coast of Reunion Island in order to answer the following two questions:

  • How do these animals use their environments (biotic and abiotic) and how do they adapt to variations and modifications in their habitat?
  • What important biological information is required in order to implement a shark risk management policy  for Reunion Island while at the same time preserving the environment?
