The EMODnet-Hydrography portal (http://www.emodnet-hydrography.eu) provides a range of options for freely browsing and downloading new Digital Terrain Models (DTM) of the European seas.
The EMODnet Digital Terrain Models are by preference based upon bathymetric survey data. However in a number of cases data providers have provided an alternative by contributing so-called composite products (DTMs or clouds of soundings from multiple surveys processed using their own processing solution) which are then incorporated in the resulting EMODnet DTMs. Therefore next to the Common Data Index service for viewing the survey metadata (CDI), a Catalogue of the composite products (CPRD) is maintained. This is implemented by adopting the Sextant data products service with a dedicated EMODnet Hydrography group.
Sextant is based on the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and ISO TC211 standards. Sextant uses Geonetwork to set-up the CSW. Sextant uses Marine Profile for ISO19139 with the European Directory of Marine Organisations (EDMO), the European Directory of Marine Environmental Research Projects (EDMERP) and the SeaDataNet Common Vocabularies (http://www.seadatanet.org/) making this catalogue consistent with the Common Data Index for survey data.
