Whole genome sequencing of Vibrio bathopelagicus clones isolated from Paramoeba atlantica, 2023

This study investigates the diversity of Vibrio bathopelagicus associated with marine amoebae Paramoeba atlantica. Five Vibrio bathopelagicus strains were isolated and subjected to whole genome sequencing (WGS) using the Illumina NextSeq 550 platform. Additionally, one strain underwent sequencing with the Oxford Nanopore MinION platform. The resulting raw reads were assembled to analyze the genomic characteristics and potential functional roles of these bacteria in the marine environment

Statement

This study aimed to explore the diversity of 5 Vibrio bathopelagicus strains from Paramoeba atlantica isolated using ChromAgar medium incubated at 20°C. Each strain underwent whole genome sequencing (WGS) on the Illumina NextSeq 550 platform to obtain high-quality genomic data. The raw sequencing reads were assembled separately, resulting in multiple genomic assemblies. To enhance assembly quality and provide comprehensive genomic insights, one strain was additionally sequenced using the Oxford Nanopore MinION platform. For this particular strain, a hybrid assembly approach was employed, integrating both Illumina and Nanopore reads to produce a more accurate and complete genome assembly.
