[ARCHIVED] Global Ocean Sea Surface Temperature Multi Product Ensemble (GMPE)

'''Short description:'''
For The Global Ocean - The GHRSST Multi-Product Ensemble (GMPE) system has been implemented at the Met Office which takes inputs from various analysis production centres on a routine basis and produces ensemble products at 0.25deg.x0.25deg. horizontal resolution.
A large number of sea surface temperature (SST) analyses are produced by various institutes around the world, making use of the SST observations provided by the Global High Resolution SST (GHRSST) project. These are used by a number of groups including: numerical weather prediction centres; ocean forecasting groups; climate monitoring and research groups. There is a requirement to develop international collaboration in this field in order to assess and inter-compare the different analyses, and to provide uncertainty estimates on both the analyses and observational products. The GMPE system has been developed for these purposes and is run on a daily basis at the Met Office, producing global ensemble median and standard deviations for SST on a regular 1/4 degree resolution global grid.
