Distribution Model: Autumn presence-only distribution of zooplanktivores
Observations of live zooplanktivorous marine megavertebrates from different datasets collected in France and the United Kingdom were compiled to generate presence-only distributions in the CHARM3 study area. These include 3 species of baleen whales and basking sharks. The data span from 1987 - 2011 and come from both dedicated and opportunistic surveys from land, sea, or air.

- Explanation
-
Observations of marine megavertebrate zooplanktivores in the English Channel and southern North Sea. The data were provided from a variety of sources including public sightings, dedicated and opportunistic surveys on a variety of platforms over several decades. No information on search effort is available so the data represent presence-only sightings.

Sightings were contributed by Marinelife and the Atlantic Research Coalition, the University of Exeter, the Sea Mammal Research Unit, the Marine Conservation Society, the Marine Environmental Monitoring Programme, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Seaquest Southwest Programme, Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Consulting, Marine Conservation International and the International Federation for Animal Welfare, Cornwall Seal Group, the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, the Centre de Recherche sur les Mammifères Marins, La Rochelle Aquarium, the Association pour l'Etude et la Conservation des Sélaciens, and the Iroise Parc Naturel Marins. Data were filtered to remove obvious location errors (i.e. on land) and in poor seastates (>3 Beaufort Scale). The filtered dataset was then used to generate composite presence-only rasters in 0.25 degree resolution.
