Colonies or groups of seals in France are subject to regular censuses in which the number of seals present on land is identified at the highest attendance on the haul out site (usually mid-day, at low tide). The precise location of these seals is also noted in the census and presented here in summary form in a grid covering the entire area "on land" used by the seals. This data is broken down for each quarter from 2007 to 2009 and is provided by the LPO under the "Réseau Phoques" (Seals Network).
