MoPSeq-DB: Mollusc Pathogen Sequence DataBase
Dataset contained in MoPSeq-DB (Mollusc Pathogen Sequence Database), a web platform dedicated to the sharing, visualization, and analysis of genomic data of marine mollusk pathogens.
Sequencing technologies continue to evolve, providing novel opportunities for disease control and mitigation strategies. Indeed, these advancements play a pivotal role in diagnosing diseases and identifying genetically distinct pathogenic variants that may exhibit diverse host reservoir species and geographical distributions.
In recent years, reference laboratories and research groups studying marine mollusc diseases have made significant progress in sequencing-based analyses. However, the community still faces challenges in data management due to the lack of dedicated databases and tools.
To address this gap, we present MoPSeq-DB, a user-friendly web application designed to manage curated genomic data related to mollusc pathogens. The platform offers interactive data visualisation and integrated analysis tools, making it accessible even to non-bioinformaticians. Developed using the Python web-framework Django, MoPSeq-DB automates common bioinformatics workflows, enabling convenient and rapid exploration of sequencing data. The application is open-source, has minimal hardware requirements, and is easy to install, host, and update.
MoPSeq-DB ensures systematic yet flexible storage of genomic data of mollusc pathogens, along with their associated metadata, facilitating efficient data organisation. It represents a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners working in the field of mollusc diseases. Moreover, the platform can be easily adapted to manage genomic data of other pathogens.

LineageGénéalogie |
Dataset containing genomic data of marine mollusc pathogens, sourced from the NCBI databases and unpublished data (up to the present date) from Ifremer's ASIM team. These data originate from the sequencing of samples collected in Europe, Asia, North America, and Oceania between 1983 and 2021, followed by sequencing and assembly conducted by different research teams (detailed techniques and software used are available in MoPSeq-DB). This dataset is regularly updated to include as many genomes as possible for the currently included organisms (Ostreid herpesvirus-1, Vibrio aestuarianus, and Perkinsus olseni) and to add genomes from new marine mollusc pathogens. |
